Steven works from a purpose built studio on a croft in Lochcarron, where he lives with his wife Pippa, Labradoodles Archie and Willow, two hens and a large number of weeds that occasionally turn out to be vegetables.

He works in a variety of media but with a primary focus on watercolour, gouache and oils which he finds ideal for interpreting the wonderful landscape of Wester Ross. Living in such a dramatic area means that mountains and seascapes form a large part of his output, though sporadic forays to the east coast provide very different subject matter and a whole new set of challenges.

Steven has exhibited in galleries across Scotland and is a former owner of the Aberfeldy Gallery in Perthshire and the Sadler Gallery in Wells, Somerset. He has delivered introductory courses in watercolour over the years and demonstrated at a number of art societies across Scotland.

Visits to the studio are very welcome. It should be noted however that access is up a number of steps that cannot be avoided. Please use the information on the contact us page to arrange an appointment.
